Day 7629
Simon's had the escape route blocked off, but surely that's bolting the gate after the horse has...no, wait. Anyway, I'm checking in on 4J. How on earth did he get dragged into this mess?
Friday, 28 December 2007
Day 7628
4J's fine. He's back in his cell. We've had an escape and we're trying to track them. So, 4J. Good guy or bad guy?
Thursday, 27 December 2007
Day 7627
I got to the tea and coffee before anyone had some and swapped it for some of the previous supplier's that we still had in stock. Still, 4J fell ill and we've rushed him into the infirmary.
Wednesday, 26 December 2007
Day 7626
Barry reported back - the beverage supplier hasn't folded at all. I'm about to race over to the canteen to investigate.
Tuesday, 25 December 2007
Day 7625
Something's wrong. It's hard to put my finger on what is going on, but experience tells me something is off. No point in telling the head guard.
Monday, 24 December 2007
Friday, 21 December 2007
Day 7623
Our beverage supplier has folded apparently, we get a new one next week. Simon's being cagey about the details. Hmmm.
Thursday, 20 December 2007
Day 7622
I've lost nearly a stone and jogged for 5 minutes comfortably this morning. Quite proud of myself.
Wednesday, 19 December 2007
Day 7621
Lou and I are getting a pretty strong case for an appeal together for 4J, but I can't help feeling I'm missing something. Anyway, she wrote him an update which is probably why he looks so cheerful today.
Tuesday, 18 December 2007
Day 7620
Barry reckons he's innocent. Just what a guilty man would say. But then again, also what an innocent man would say. He shared a lot of information, a lot of which makes sense. Will talk to Lou tonight. Jogged for 5 whole minutes today.
Monday, 17 December 2007
Day 7619
Arranged to see Barry tomorrow. Lou's evidence is fascinating but I still think we need a bit of work before it's airtight. It seems very quiet round here and that always worries me.
Friday, 14 December 2007
Day 7618
Got two phone calls today, one from Lou saying she had the proof she was waiting for, and one from Barry. He said he was sorry and we need to talk. When did my life get so complicated...
Thursday, 13 December 2007
Wednesday, 12 December 2007
Day 7616
Managed two minutes jogging this morning...whopdee-doo. Simon avoided me all day. 4J looks worried.
Tuesday, 11 December 2007
Day 7615
So Simon takes me to one side and says he has to make redundancies to make budget, and that he is recommending to head office that I be amongst them. 'Nothing personal' apparently. I said that was fine - me and the internal mail he had withheld would probably get a job in internal affairs. You should have seen the blood drain out of his face - gold!
Monday, 10 December 2007
Day 7614
Went jogging this morning before work. Well, tried to. I was exhausted after about a minute.Never mind, I'll keep at it. Oh, and Lou said that there was a problem with the judge in 4J's case. She wants to get more evidence before involving me apparently.
Friday, 7 December 2007
Day 7613
Lou's found a major flaw in 4J's case. You know what, I think we just might get him out of here.
Thursday, 6 December 2007
Day 7612
Simon says (never did like that game) he may have to recommend cutbacks to meet budget this year, and looked at me. I'm not leaving before I have to damn it!
Wednesday, 5 December 2007
Day 7611
No reply from head office about Derek's transfer, or at least none that I'm getting. I may have to accept that he's here for now. In other news, I might start jogging.
Tuesday, 4 December 2007
Day 7610
That's odd. Saw Simon coming out of 4J's cell with a bottle of disinfectant. Since when did head guards clean cells? I don't think he saw me, but that's something else to log away.
Monday, 3 December 2007
Day 7609
Simon is being insufferable. If he stays as head guard I am going to have to seriously consider my future here. If I can make it to retirement at least I get a full pension. And for some odd reason, I don't want to leave 4J here.
Friday, 30 November 2007
Day 7608
Simon was announced as head guard today. On the bright side, we've got our home straight and Lou's back at work tomorrow. She's very keen to get back onto 4J's case. You know what, me too.
Thursday, 29 November 2007
Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Day 7606
Lou's staying at home, trying to get the place straight. I insisted she invite a friend over as well so she's not alone. Head office say they can only send paperwork through authorised channels and I should report any concerns about tampering. Can't help feeling that would be showing my cards a bit early - I may yet need some leverage against Simon.
Tuesday, 27 November 2007
Monday, 26 November 2007
Day 7604
Good news / bad news. Good news - Lou is fine. She just wasn't near her phone. Bad news - our house has been broken into and completely trashed. I, of course, missed my interview. That's the end of that then.
Friday, 23 November 2007
Day 7603
I know why head office don't know about the phone call. It wasn't them. Someone else knows where I live. Lou isn't answering her mobile...
Thursday, 22 November 2007
Day 7602
Second interview booked in for the day after tomorrow. Rang back head office to ask if the paperwork they were sending me needed to be signed for and they knew nothing about it. They should get themselves organised!
Wednesday, 21 November 2007
Day 7601
A guy rang up from head office to ask for my home address so they can push Derek's transfer paperwork through with me direct. Hopefully that will speed things up.
Tuesday, 20 November 2007
Day 7600
Two guards have been asked back for second interviews for the head guard post - Simon and me. Now this should be interesting.
Monday, 19 November 2007
Day 7599
Calmed down now. Had a long conversation with Lou last night. She's still 7 in my eyes but she quite rightly pointed out she is old enough to make her own decisions. And it would appear 4J has a genuine case for appeal building. Lou's been trying to get information, so his letter should have answered some questions. Hope I haven't scuppered that.
Friday, 16 November 2007
Day 7598
If that little runt thinks I'm going to let an inmate from this hell-hole go out with my daughter...
Thursday, 15 November 2007
Day 7597
I have decided to hold fire on confronting Simon about the paperwork. I may be able to make better use of it without his knowledge. Am on letter duty today, so better start sorting through this lot.
Wednesday, 14 November 2007
Day 7596
While Simon was on dinner duty, guess what I found in his desk - the original transfer paperwork and the reply from head office. Counting to 10...
Tuesday, 13 November 2007
Day 7595
Head office called, asking if I had signed the paperwork they returned about Derek's transfer. What paperwork? I'm going to go looking for it.
Monday, 12 November 2007
Day 7594
Alright, well, as you asked, I went for the chief guard's position here. I initially thought the interview went quite well but all the other candidates were so much younger than me, I don't think I'm what they're looking for. Even Simon went for it and he's new.
Friday, 9 November 2007
Day 7593
I just noticed I can see Lou from one of the windows overlooking the courtyard. Funniest thing - it looked like 4J was waving at her.
Thursday, 8 November 2007
Day 7592
The general consensus amongst the inmates appears to be that 4J was on the receiving end of our raids, not the instigator. We've had a word with a few others, including Derek, to say if anything happens to 4J they will be held directly responsible. And don't ask about the interview.
Wednesday, 7 November 2007
Tuesday, 6 November 2007
Day 7590
Explained what I could to 4J. I still get a bit nervous going back to solitary - bad memories. And I'm trying to get my head in gear for the job interview tomorrow. And head office have finally received the transfer request! I really want to know what happened to the first one.
Monday, 5 November 2007
Day 7589
Big Derek is looking particularly smug today, which is very annoying. With 4J in solitary there's a fair amount of confusion amongst the prisoners about who's a grass and who isn't. I don't need all this in the week of my interview.
Friday, 2 November 2007
Thursday, 1 November 2007
Day 7587
That did not go at all according to plan. I think we may have just created a massive problem. Specifically, I think 4J is in serious danger...
Wednesday, 31 October 2007
Day 7586
4J gave me some very interesting information today. Very interesting indeed. Tomorrow's going to be a good day.
Tuesday, 30 October 2007
Day 7585
Personally followed the transfer paperwork into the internal mail system today. Let's see what happens this time. And since when was 4J a smoker?
Monday, 29 October 2007
Day 7584
Checked again with head office and they still haven't received the transfer paperwork. I'll fill it out again and re-send tomorrow. Very strange.
Friday, 26 October 2007
Day 7583
Just phoned HQ to ensure that the transfer paperwork was under way, and they say they haven't received any transfer requests. Where did that go?
Thursday, 25 October 2007
Day 7582
You know what I just realised - 3G got done for robbing a mobile phone shop. You've got to love the irony there.
Wednesday, 24 October 2007
Day 7581
Filled out the transfer paperwork to get Derek out of here. Normally takes about a week to process. Fruit Crumble for dessert. Nearly finished the custard.
Tuesday, 23 October 2007
Day 7580
Lou reckons she's found some 'inconsistencies' in 4J's trial. I'm going to get him out of this hell-hole if it kills me.
Monday, 22 October 2007
Day 7579
Desserts were so popular we've kept doing them for most prisoners. And we're putting in a transfer request to get Big Derek out of here. I can't look at him every day. A bit like the custard.
Friday, 19 October 2007
Day 7578
4J gave me a note from 4K. As I thought, he's not even considering joining him. And what is Derek doing out, I could have sworn he was in solitary 'indefinitely'.
Thursday, 18 October 2007
Day 7577
I've had a chat with Lou and we're meeting at her office tonight. As she works for a firm of solicitors she's in a good position to discuss 4J. She seemed very keen in fact.
Wednesday, 17 October 2007
Day 7576
I need a backup plan, as it looks increasingly unlikely that 4J is going to go with 4K. Seriously, what is he doing here?
Tuesday, 16 October 2007
Day 7575
I'm pretty sure I saw 4K pushing a note through to 4J. I won't say anything and we'll see what happens. (That all purpose filler we used on the walls was rubbish by the way!)
Monday, 15 October 2007
Day 7574
Well, I tried the easy route first but he didn't take it. I can see I'm going to have to work really hard to get this guy out of here.
Friday, 12 October 2007
Day 7573
I haven't reported the note I found 4K with yesterday. As far as I'm concerned, 4J is innocent and I'm seriously considering letting him escape.
Thursday, 11 October 2007
Day 7572
I delivered dinner to 3B/4K just as he was trying to push a piece of paper through the wall to 4J. He 'has a plan' according to the note. We should probably put him in solitary.
Wednesday, 10 October 2007
Day 7571
Right at the end of my shift, and 4J starts tapping on his wall. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to put 3B, of all people, next to him.
Tuesday, 9 October 2007
Day 7570
Got him! Someone in Block 4 gave up Big Derek's name as the mastermind for the whole abduction nightmare. He was going to get released for my safe return. Instead, he's been moved from 3 to solitary!
Monday, 8 October 2007
Friday, 5 October 2007
Day 7568
Everyone is scared to talk and that is a clue in itself. There is one person who could promote this much fear and I don't think desserts are going to be enough to get him pointed at.
Thursday, 4 October 2007
Day 7567
The new guy's going around to try and get some information from the inmates. We need to find who was responsible, although I don't know how I'm going to feel when we know.
Wednesday, 3 October 2007
Tuesday, 2 October 2007
Day 7565
We need to think of a way to get some of the inmates talking, to find out who was behind the abduction. What would these guys appreciate?
Monday, 1 October 2007
Day 7564
I feel like I'm walking miles now we have the inmates much more spread out. Oh, and Lou goes on holiday today.
Friday, 28 September 2007
Day 7563
Walks are back, and staggered, so it takes a lot more of our day. I mentioned 4J's case to Lou in passing, as she works in a law office. She didn't seem that interested.
Thursday, 27 September 2007
Day 7562
Popped in to 4J to tell him about the reassignments and the fact that exercise routines are to be reinstituted. It will be nice to have sort of normality back.
Wednesday, 26 September 2007
Day 7561
We've sat down and worked out the new cell assignments. We'll move a few today and most tomorrow. Properly introduced myself to the guard who was drafted in to replace me. Seems nice enough.
Tuesday, 25 September 2007
Day 7560
Barry won't give up the name of the prisoner that bribed him to abduct me. The decision's been made that the inmates should be split up to stop collusions like this from happening. We'll see.
Monday, 24 September 2007
Day 7559
A very strange day. Barry was arrested after evidence of his involvement in the kidnap plot came to light. I don't have all the details yet but I have a meeting with Internal Affairs tomorrow. He can't be imprisoned here, can he?
Friday, 21 September 2007
Thursday, 20 September 2007
Day 7557
Tensions are rising within the guards as it becomes increasingly apparent that one of them held me hostage. Whoever it is must be in league with a prisoner. The net is closing.
Wednesday, 19 September 2007
Day 7556
The investigation has turned inward. As I was snatched and knocked out inside prison grounds, and then held in the prison's solitary confinement, the feeling is that it was too big a job for an inmate, or even several, to carry out. And if it wasn't a prisoner, there's only one other group that spends all its time here...
Tuesday, 18 September 2007
Day 7555
Early days in the investigation, so not much to report there yet. Had a quiet word with Linda in the kitchen to set up a little surprise for 4J.
Monday, 17 September 2007
Day 7554
A massive investigation has started as to how what happened, happened. I'll be questioned soon. Wondered what to get 4J as a gift, but when I thought about it, it was obvious.
Friday, 14 September 2007
Day 7553
I surprised myself by how emotional it was to see 4J again, the man whose letter unintentionally gave the clue to my release. We hugged and I thanked him and he looked a little bemused. Someone is going to have a very good week next week.
Thursday, 13 September 2007
Day 7552
So 2 weeks ago I was snatched 30 seconds after clocking out and held in our own prison's solitary confinement! I couldn't make out any faces, so I don't know who to blame. But I know who to thank for my release...
Wednesday, 12 September 2007
Day 7551
Thank you Lou, my dear, sweet girl. It is so good to be home, but I am shattered. More tomorrow.
Tuesday, 11 September 2007
Day 7550
It is so incredibly frustrating to be sitting at home, not able to do anything practical. I would go down there and look for clues myself if they would let me.
Monday, 10 September 2007
Day 7549
It's been raining today dad. Hope you can see that. No post. The cat is fine, but misses you. So do I.
Friday, 7 September 2007
Day 7548
We seem to be at a dead-end. The prison service won't negotiate and we have no idea where dad is being held. I swore I wouldn't do this, but I may have to unload all of this to my guy inside.
Thursday, 6 September 2007
Day 7547
The prison service says it won't meet any ransom demand and I may have to accept the consequences of that decision. I'm not giving up on you papa. See you soon. L xx
Wednesday, 5 September 2007
Day 7546
The inevitable ransom demand arrived this morning. A prisoner for dad. They also seem to know a lot about me. I was scared yesterday, but I'm angry today.
Tuesday, 4 September 2007
Day 7545
The governor at the prison is keeping me informed, although there's not much to report at the moment. They will be drafting in another guard soon to cover for dad. Where are you?
Monday, 3 September 2007
Day 7544
Dad would want me to carry on his journal. He's been missing for 48 hours now and we're all sick with worry. I hope you get to read this soon dad. Lou xx
Thursday, 30 August 2007
Day 7542
Barry's doing screening most of this week and as I was taking 4J his food Barry told me to let him know a letter had arrived. He looked pleased. I hope someone takes his case on one day. I'm sure he's not meant to be here.
Wednesday, 29 August 2007
Day 7541
I dropped Louise into work today and managed to find out a bit more about the man she's seeing. Works in 'restricted property management' apparently, but I don't know what that is.
Tuesday, 28 August 2007
Day 7540
Letter screening again today to cover for Friday last week. Pretty monotonous again, nothing to report. A couple of the night guards were looking particularly harassed this morning.
Monday, 27 August 2007
Day 7539
Derek said 'good morning' to me today. Very specifically to me. Just 'good morning'. This is not helping my blood pressure.
Friday, 24 August 2007
Day 7538
The doctor says I need to get my blood pressure down. I pointed out I was in quite a high-pressure job, but he said it was as pressurised as I made it. Hope everything's been OK while I've been gone.
Thursday, 23 August 2007
Day 7537
Big Derek looks particularly smug today. That's a worry. I worry too much. Which reminds me, must not forgot doctor's appointment tomorrow.
Wednesday, 22 August 2007
Tuesday, 21 August 2007
Day 7535
It worries me how some prisoners group together. I've seen plans hatched and lesser inmates 'disappear' through such gatherings.
Monday, 20 August 2007
Day 7534
Stupid weather. It's been tipping it down all day. Didn't stop some of the inmates going for an exercise period. Mad fools.
Friday, 17 August 2007
Day 7533
There's a steady stream of letters coming in now. I don't have to do my shift at screening until next week. The atmosphere is definitely better here as inmates get contact with loved ones. Even 4J has got a smile on his face.
Thursday, 16 August 2007
Day 7532
Louise has come down with that cold that's doing the rounds and stayed in today. What is 4J doing in that corner?
Wednesday, 15 August 2007
Day 7531
'Hi mom. PRISON life is hard here. I need a BREAK. I feel like I have TUNNEL vision and can only ever see 500 YARDS in front of me. We are let OUTSIDE now for exercise. We can walk north, south, EAST and west, but always within the FENCE. See you soon. Wish it was TOMORROW. Your son.' 3W, now in solitary confinement, makes me laugh.
Tuesday, 14 August 2007
Day 7530
The first of the outgoing letters are starting to come through. Mainly descriptions about their days, a few love letters, a request for a recipe and a letter to Trisha. Nothing from 4J.
Monday, 13 August 2007
Day 7529
The inmates were given supplies to write letters today. We'll be checking all incoming and outgoing mail for coded messages about escape plans and the like. Although, in fairness, 4J could be sent a file and he'd end up with a manicure.
Friday, 10 August 2007
Day 7528
We spent most of today organising how we're going to screen incoming and outgoing letters. We'll probably take it in turns. And on the home front, Louise finally got transferred out of accounts. It's a relief, she was never really happy there.
Thursday, 9 August 2007
Day 7527
I told 4J about the letter-writing and he didn't look too happy. In view of the circumstances to his conviction I can understand why.
Wednesday, 8 August 2007
Day 7526
Big Derek came to see us today in his role as Prisoner Liaison and asked for letter-writing privileges for all inmates. It means we're going to have set up a screening facility but seems a reasonable request.
Tuesday, 7 August 2007
Day 7525
The exercise periods seem to be going OK, no one is emptying soil out of their trouser leg. I asked Louise about this guy she had met at work - she's being very cagey about him.
Monday, 6 August 2007
Day 7524
Well our whole routine has changed now that the inmates are altogether for an exercise period. It makes me a bit nervous when they group together.
Friday, 3 August 2007
Day 7523
All is resolved. 3 is back to normal and the inmates are now getting exercise periods. A good end to a crazy week. More good news, my daughter said she's met a nice guy at work. Sounds good, hope I can meet him soon.
Thursday, 2 August 2007
Day 7522
Barry's out, much to our relief. We should have everything back under control soon. Turns out 4J was walking the corridors having got hold of Harry's pass. We've kept him in today to let everything calm down. I've just noticed - Barry and Harry. That's funny.
Wednesday, 1 August 2007
Day 7521
Well that was a long night. We've started negotiations with the prisoners. They just want some exercise time too and I can see where they're coming from. Barry's OK. Bet he wishes he was down that hole now. Oh, and the strangest thing, I could have sworn I saw the back of 4J's head disappearing down a corridor - funny huh?!
Tuesday, 31 July 2007
Day 7520
It was always a matter of time. One of the inmates jumped a guard and took his keys. Now cell block 3 is completely overrun by inmates who have barricaded themselves in. They're demanding to talk to the Governor, something about equal rights. Barry is still in there. A dark day.
Monday, 30 July 2007
Day 7519
We're going to have a problem. Cell block 3 are getting increasingly incensed that 4J is getting exercise periods. It doesn't matter what we say. They're shouting and hitting the bars. This is going to get ugly.
Friday, 27 July 2007
Day 7518
We let 4J have another exercise period today. He seems to be enjoying it, but it's becoming an increasing problem to the inmates in cell block 3. We can't just let them all out to wander around the courtyard, but they don't seem to get that. I can't help feeling this isn't going to end well.
Thursday, 26 July 2007
Day 7517
We took 4J for a walk in the courtyard today to try this 'exercise program' idea. He seemed to enjoy it. Prisoners in section 3 didn't look happy though. Mumblings about favouritism.
Wednesday, 25 July 2007
Day 7516
Harry's been in to fix the problems in 4 block. Prison service had reports of notes in the street from prisoners (through that wretched gas tunnel) and thought there was an escape plan under way. We explained people were breaking in, not out. They weren't amused. They've suggested an exercise programme to let them see some daylight under controlled conditions. We might experiment with that idea.
Tuesday, 24 July 2007
Day 7515
This place is falling apart. Barry turned up today, telling us he fell down a hole in 4K! Turns out the gas company took a wrong turn in the high street and ended up digging under the prison. It's taken him a day to find his way out. Now 4J reports a loose brick in the cell wall. We're going to need more than filler this time. I've called Harry.
Monday, 23 July 2007
Day 7514
Full head-count today to confirm everyone is still here. We have been talking to Head Office, telling them no one has escaped but they don't sound convinced. Security checks have been increased to keep an eye on everyone, even 4J - like he would try to escape!
Friday, 20 July 2007
Day 7513
So the Prison Service wants to know who's escaped and how? What?! No one's escaped. Right? We'll probably have to have another inspection now. And where's Barry? I sent him to check the smell had gone from section 4 and he is taking forever.
Thursday, 19 July 2007
Day 7512
Well I've never seen anyone look at Doris quite like that! Poor guy, it's worse than I thought. Hopefully the drugs will settle him a bit. Incidentally, another letter arrived from H.M. Inspector of Prisons. We've already had an inspection, what do they want?
Wednesday, 18 July 2007
Day 7511
4J started shouting again, so we went tearing in. He looks awful. I feared this would happen, the gas has got to him. We've taken him to Doris.
Tuesday, 17 July 2007
Day 7510
We're short-staffed today as more and more guards go home sick. I'm not feeling quite right, but it could be worse. 4J is stuck in there all day.
Monday, 16 July 2007
Day 7509
The smell in block 4 gets worse every day. I can hear voices again but who knows if that's real or the effects of the gas. 4J worries me - how long can he endure it in there?
Friday, 13 July 2007
Day 7508
We have a problem. 4J's bath didn't help. It's clear now the smell is coming from 4K. And it smells like gas. We've sealed it off to investigate further. Stopped one of the other guards investigating with a match. Moron.
Thursday, 12 July 2007
Day 7507
Man alive, 4J stunk! However, he's clean now. We even sent out for some aftershave - just some cheap stuff, but anything's an improvement.
Wednesday, 11 July 2007
Day 7506
The multi-spectrum detector turned up today, so I went to check 4J. The readings were off the charts, so I've ordered a bath for him. Still doesn't tell us what it is though.
Tuesday, 10 July 2007
Day 7505
The guards have been talking about the events of the past 48 hours and we have decided that an empty cell doesn't just suddenly start smelling. However, there is someone in 4J...
Monday, 9 July 2007
Day 7504
There's some disagreement amongst the guards as to what the smell is in block 4, so we've put a requisition order in for a multi-spectrum detector. And as for that noise from 4K - we are all very jumpy at the moment I can tell you.
Friday, 6 July 2007
Day 7503
Panic! Several of us heard a scream from 4K and went charging in, only to find it empty. But there is an awful smell in there. Something very weird is going on...
Thursday, 5 July 2007
Day 7502
Early signs are that the drive on 'stimulating educational material' for the inmates has been a great success and they're using their brains a lot more now. Hope they don't get too smart.
Wednesday, 4 July 2007
Day 7501
4J was asking about the new inmates today. Poor guy, he probably just wants some company, but I can't see anyone being in section 4 for a while.

Day 7500
I've been here 7500 days today. Wonder if I get a special treat? It's quite strange having so many more inmates now. I can hear voices everywhere - they even seem to be coming from cells I know are empty!

Day 7499
It has been ridiculously busy today registering all the new inmates. The consensus is that, as they are not from our area, they should go in a different block.
Friday, 29 June 2007
Day 7498
Got some more cleaners in to prepare for the new inmates. Weirdest thing, I could have sworn I heard someone in 4K, but checked and no one was there. This place is starting to get to me.

Day 7497
Confirmation today of what we feared. Next week we're having a whole new stack of inmates arrive. Shame, I'd got use to just having 4J. Incidentally, I seem to be a pack of pencils short.

Day 7494
I've just seen the list of books available to prisoners. 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Escape from Alcatraz', 'Jail Break for Dummies'! Just run round and taken one of them off 4J. Now waiting for the book guy to phone me back.
Friday, 22 June 2007
Day 7493
We’ve hired a book bloke to offer reading material to the inmates. Pretty easy job at the moment, but it may well be getting a lot busier around here.
Thursday, 21 June 2007
Day 7492
Completely forgot about 4J, his light’s been off since he got back from solitary. I kind of feel sorry for the guy. Still, if you can’t do the time…
Wednesday, 20 June 2007
Day 7491
We had a meeting today to discuss the inspector’s report. We have to do something about this ‘educational content’. I thought my idea of installing TVs showing Open University was very good. No one else did.
Tuesday, 19 June 2007
Day 7490
Little party for all the guards today after the inspection. Rumours abound that we have more inmates incoming. That was a matter of time I suppose.
Monday, 18 June 2007
Day 7489
Well all in all that was a pretty successful inspection. He didn't spot the holes and didn't bother checking solitary. Phew! He has criticised the 'lack of stimulating educational content for inmates'. Hmm, what are we going to do about that?
Friday, 15 June 2007
Thursday, 14 June 2007
Day 7487
All the cells are clean, records are up to date, holes are mostly covered...I think we're ready.
Wednesday, 13 June 2007
Day 7486
We have a plan - if we move 4J into solitary confinement during the inspection, we can clean the cell and he won't cause trouble. I went to tell him and found my pencil!
Tuesday, 12 June 2007
Day 7485
So the only cell left to clean is 4J. I don't really want to move him into another clean cell, he'll just mess it up. What am I going to do with him?
Monday, 11 June 2007
Day 7484
Smiling inmates worry me. It usually means they're planning something. I really hope 4J isn't going to cause trouble during the inspection.
Friday, 8 June 2007
Day 7483
The inspection is a week away, so it's all hands to the deck. We've put some posters up to cover some of the holes and the cleaning is nearly finished. 4J worries me. He's just staring at the floor.
Thursday, 7 June 2007
Day 7482
We've run out of decorators' filler and the budget doesn't stretch to getting more. Let's just hope the inspector doesn't notice.
Wednesday, 6 June 2007
Day 7481
The cleaning team are pretty much finished, but the hole-filling team are so far behind it's not even funny. At least we haven't had any trouble from 4J today.
Tuesday, 5 June 2007
Day 7480
I know what 4J is singing...he's still asking if anyone's there. How am I going to convince him he's the only one?
Monday, 4 June 2007
Day 7479
I've collected together all 4J's pieces of paper. If the inspector finds out what he's been doing, he'll know there are holes in the walls and all our work will have been in vain. I'm going to have to talk to him again.
Friday, 1 June 2007
Day 7478
The cleaning team arrived at 4K today and found lots of bits of paper on the floor, all from 4J. What does he think he's doing? I've had a word. Coincidentally, he's not singing as loud. Maybe his voice is getting tired.
Thursday, 31 May 2007
Day 7477
Someone pointed out that we don't have 4J's photo on file, so I've had to go and take his picture. He posed with a pencil as if it was a microphone. That'll go down well at the inspection.
Wednesday, 30 May 2007
Day 7476
Well at least 4J isn't shouting - now he's singing! Something about 'body hair'. I think someone is going stir-crazy.
Tuesday, 29 May 2007
Day 7475
We're washing out some of the cells today in readiness for the inspection. Oh, and 4J has been shouting non-stop since yesterday. Seriously, if he doesn't stop soon, I'm going to take this bucket...
Friday, 25 May 2007
Day 7474
Great. 4J has taken to shouting 'is anybody there?' I've already told him he's the only one, but still he insists on shouting. I'm going to have a word.
Thursday, 24 May 2007
Day 7473
We got the final date through for inspection today - middle of next month. Not long really. We better get those holes plugged and spruce the place up a bit. Let's just hope the prisoners behave themselves. Still, if it's only 4J it should be a breeze.
Wednesday, 23 May 2007
Day 7472
I was asked to fit a light in 4J today. He was asking about other inmates and I told him he was the only one. I gave him the old 'smile and a wink' that I'm so well known for round here. That always makes people feel better.
Tuesday, 22 May 2007
Monday, 21 May 2007
Day 7470
4J's very chirpy this morning. A little 'woo-hoo' first thing and he's been smiling away all day. He should try filling holes in walls with filler, that would wipe the smile right off his face.
Friday, 18 May 2007
Day 7469
We're gradually filling in all these holes in the cell walls. It's not like they're big, no-one could escape or anything. Still, we've got an inspection next month, so better show willing.
Thursday, 17 May 2007
Wednesday, 16 May 2007
Day 7467
The wall in cell 4J checked out, so we moved 4K back from whence he came, which he didn't look too happy about. Surely one cell is very much like another. Anyway, fed him, which he was grateful for. Have a feeling that's what I was forgetting to do - oops!
Tuesday, 15 May 2007
Day 7466
Bought a load of decorators' filler today to start plugging those holes. Must remember to fill out an expenses form to get reimbursed this time. I'm not having that Mars bar fiasco again.
Monday, 14 May 2007
Friday, 11 May 2007
Day 7464
Told 4K that he was the last one here, which he didn't look too happy about. Just as well from my point of view, I'd be out of a job otherwise. Sure I've forgotten something again today. Must be getting old.
Thursday, 10 May 2007
Day 7463
The prisoner in 4T has been released, so that just leaves 4J. Or 4K as he is now. We're just letting the wall set properly before we move him back. There's that funny, musty smell again today, but mixed with a sweet odour. Weird.
Wednesday, 9 May 2007
Day 7462
Blessed builders! Finally finished at lunchtime today (how long does it take to rebuild a wall?!) and then one of them dropped his tools everywhere. Took us an hour just to find all his nails. Can't be too careful with these prisoners. Anyway, job's done. I can't help feeling I've forgotten something.
Tuesday, 8 May 2007
Day 7461
The builders are here rebuilding the wall in 4J. The more I think about it, the more surprised I am that guy is still here. I must look up what he's in for.
Day 7460
The prisoner in 4J called me in and he's got most of one wall missing! He said something about a breeze but I was off to the office. We've moved him to 4K and got the builders coming in tomorrow. I wonder why he didn't try and escape?
Day 7405
The hairy prisoner in 4J has been eyeing the bullet proof window most of today. He better not be thinking of an escape - I'm too close to retirement to be dealing with that sort of paperwork.
Can't find my pencil.
Can't find my pencil.
