Got some more cleaners in to prepare for the new inmates. Weirdest thing, I could have sworn I heard someone in 4K, but checked and no one was there. This place is starting to get to me.

Confirmation today of what we feared. Next week we're having a whole new stack of inmates arrive. Shame, I'd got use to just having 4J. Incidentally, I seem to be a pack of pencils short.

Packs of pencils arrived today, so I told one of the other guards to give 4J one.

The book man's back today distributing more appropriate literature. He requested that we get hold of some pencils for some reason, so I've filled out a requisition order.

I've just seen the list of books available to prisoners. 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Escape from Alcatraz', 'Jail Break for Dummies'! Just run round and taken one of them off 4J. Now waiting for the book guy to phone me back.

We’ve hired a book bloke to offer reading material to the inmates. Pretty easy job at the moment, but it may well be getting a lot busier around here.

Completely forgot about 4J, his light’s been off since he got back from solitary. I kind of feel sorry for the guy. Still, if you can’t do the time…

We had a meeting today to discuss the inspector’s report. We have to do something about this ‘educational content’. I thought my idea of installing TVs showing Open University was very good. No one else did.

Little party for all the guards today after the inspection. Rumours abound that we have more inmates incoming. That was a matter of time I suppose.

Well all in all that was a pretty successful inspection. He didn't spot the holes and didn't bother checking solitary. Phew! He has criticised the 'lack of stimulating educational content for inmates'. Hmm, what are we going to do about that?

All the cells are clean, records are up to date, holes are mostly covered...I think we're ready.

We have a plan - if we move 4J into solitary confinement during the inspection, we can clean the cell and he won't cause trouble. I went to tell him and found my pencil!

So the only cell left to clean is 4J. I don't really want to move him into another clean cell, he'll just mess it up. What am I going to do with him?

Smiling inmates worry me. It usually means they're planning something. I really hope 4J isn't going to cause trouble during the inspection.

The inspection is a week away, so it's all hands to the deck. We've put some posters up to cover some of the holes and the cleaning is nearly finished. 4J worries me. He's just staring at the floor.

We've run out of decorators' filler and the budget doesn't stretch to getting more. Let's just hope the inspector doesn't notice.

The cleaning team are pretty much finished, but the hole-filling team are so far behind it's not even funny. At least we haven't had any trouble from 4J today.

I know what 4J is singing...he's still asking if anyone's there. How am I going to convince him he's the only one?

I've collected together all 4J's pieces of paper. If the inspector finds out what he's been doing, he'll know there are holes in the walls and all our work will have been in vain. I'm going to have to talk to him again.

The cleaning team arrived at 4K today and found lots of bits of paper on the floor, all from 4J. What does he think he's doing? I've had a word. Coincidentally, he's not singing as loud. Maybe his voice is getting tired.
