Day 7520

It was always a matter of time. One of the inmates jumped a guard and took his keys. Now cell block 3 is completely overrun by inmates who have barricaded themselves in. They're demanding to talk to the Governor, something about equal rights. Barry is still in there. A dark day.

Day 7519

We're going to have a problem. Cell block 3 are getting increasingly incensed that 4J is getting exercise periods. It doesn't matter what we say. They're shouting and hitting the bars. This is going to get ugly.

Friday, 27 July 2007

Day 7518

We let 4J have another exercise period today. He seems to be enjoying it, but it's becoming an increasing problem to the inmates in cell block 3. We can't just let them all out to wander around the courtyard, but they don't seem to get that. I can't help feeling this isn't going to end well.

Thursday, 26 July 2007

Day 7517

We took 4J for a walk in the courtyard today to try this 'exercise program' idea. He seemed to enjoy it. Prisoners in section 3 didn't look happy though. Mumblings about favouritism.

Day 7516

Harry's been in to fix the problems in 4 block. Prison service had reports of notes in the street from prisoners (through that wretched gas tunnel) and thought there was an escape plan under way. We explained people were breaking in, not out. They weren't amused. They've suggested an exercise programme to let them see some daylight under controlled conditions. We might experiment with that idea.

Day 7515

This place is falling apart. Barry turned up today, telling us he fell down a hole in 4K! Turns out the gas company took a wrong turn in the high street and ended up digging under the prison. It's taken him a day to find his way out. Now 4J reports a loose brick in the cell wall. We're going to need more than filler this time. I've called Harry.

Monday, 23 July 2007

Day 7514

Full head-count today to confirm everyone is still here. We have been talking to Head Office, telling them no one has escaped but they don't sound convinced. Security checks have been increased to keep an eye on everyone, even 4J - like he would try to escape!

Friday, 20 July 2007

Day 7513

So the Prison Service wants to know who's escaped and how? What?! No one's escaped. Right? We'll probably have to have another inspection now. And where's Barry? I sent him to check the smell had gone from section 4 and he is taking forever.

Thursday, 19 July 2007

Day 7512

Well I've never seen anyone look at Doris quite like that! Poor guy, it's worse than I thought. Hopefully the drugs will settle him a bit. Incidentally, another letter arrived from H.M. Inspector of Prisons. We've already had an inspection, what do they want?

Wednesday, 18 July 2007

Day 7511

4J started shouting again, so we went tearing in. He looks awful. I feared this would happen, the gas has got to him. We've taken him to Doris.

Tuesday, 17 July 2007

Day 7510

We're short-staffed today as more and more guards go home sick. I'm not feeling quite right, but it could be worse. 4J is stuck in there all day.

Monday, 16 July 2007

Day 7509

The smell in block 4 gets worse every day. I can hear voices again but who knows if that's real or the effects of the gas. 4J worries me - how long can he endure it in there?

Friday, 13 July 2007

Day 7508

We have a problem. 4J's bath didn't help. It's clear now the smell is coming from 4K. And it smells like gas. We've sealed it off to investigate further. Stopped one of the other guards investigating with a match. Moron.

Thursday, 12 July 2007

Day 7507

Man alive, 4J stunk! However, he's clean now. We even sent out for some aftershave - just some cheap stuff, but anything's an improvement.

Wednesday, 11 July 2007

Day 7506

The multi-spectrum detector turned up today, so I went to check 4J. The readings were off the charts, so I've ordered a bath for him. Still doesn't tell us what it is though.

Tuesday, 10 July 2007

Day 7505

The guards have been talking about the events of the past 48 hours and we have decided that an empty cell doesn't just suddenly start smelling. However, there is someone in 4J...

Monday, 9 July 2007

Day 7504

There's some disagreement amongst the guards as to what the smell is in block 4, so we've put a requisition order in for a multi-spectrum detector. And as for that noise from 4K - we are all very jumpy at the moment I can tell you.

Friday, 6 July 2007

Day 7503

Panic! Several of us heard a scream from 4K and went charging in, only to find it empty. But there is an awful smell in there. Something very weird is going on...

Thursday, 5 July 2007

Day 7502

Early signs are that the drive on 'stimulating educational material' for the inmates has been a great success and they're using their brains a lot more now. Hope they don't get too smart.

Wednesday, 4 July 2007

Day 7501

4J was asking about the new inmates today. Poor guy, he probably just wants some company, but I can't see anyone being in section 4 for a while.

Tuesday, 3 July 2007

Day 7500

I've been here 7500 days today. Wonder if I get a special treat? It's quite strange having so many more inmates now. I can hear voices everywhere - they even seem to be coming from cells I know are empty!

Monday, 2 July 2007

Day 7499

It has been ridiculously busy today registering all the new inmates. The consensus is that, as they are not from our area, they should go in a different block.
